It seems the jury is still out about the impact on Brexit on the marketing profession. So far the opinion leaders have held their breath waiting for developments to emerge.
Perhaps as a training company we are a barometer of market confidence. This week we received our first enquiries from prospective candidates who have recently been made redundant. Others want to enrol on courses to 'hedge' against possible redundancy. The last time we received these types of enquiry was 2009.
Are these enquiries the early signs of the next economic downturn and a repetition of the marketing and training budget culls that were so painful during the last recession? I hope I am wrong.

The latest figures suggests Brexit could hit the marketing industry still further as negotiations to leave start to take place. However, it does appear that the UK economy will avoid going into recession. There was little in the budget that specifically addressed the marketing industry, although direct marketers should note that Hammond announced a consultation on how best to ban pensions cold calling.
